Paco Santiago Marín, was born in Granada in the year 1946. He comes from a guitar-making family and has been constructing guitars since 1965.
He loved wood since he was very young. His father was Francisco Santiago Oliva, a cabinet-maker by trade who trained him in the profession and stayed with him in carpentry until 1963, the year in which he joined to the workshop of his uncle, Antonio Marín Montero, to learn as a guitar-maker.
In 1972 he decided to go alone and created his own workshop. For 20 years his son, Luis Santiago, has worked alongside him.
Paco has given courses in numerous international festivals:
– During 6 º Competition and Festival of Guitar of Havana, Cuba in May 1992.
– In the Festival of Guitar of Córdoba in July of 2000-2003.
– In addition, he gave a seminar in the American Institute of Guitar of New York in November 1993.
His guitars are noted for great projection, balance and color of the sound, reasons for which many of the well-known players of this instrument prefer them.
He has constructed replicas of very emblematic guitars of the old master makers – for example the 1864 guitar of Antonio de Torres which belonged to Francisco Tárrega. The replica was built at the request of guitarist Adrián Rius.
