Daniele Chiesa was born in Bergamo, Italy in 1973.
He has studied classical and jazz guitar since the age of 12. In 1994 he enrolled in the International violin-making school of Cremona, learning traditional violin-making and repairing and building guitars in his own shop; he graduated in 1998.
One year after, he moved to Santa Cruz, California, working for guitar maker Kenny Hill, where he was first exposed to traditional Spanish guitar construction.
After almost a year, he went back to his hometown in Italy, where he worked with classical guitarist and guitar maker Paolo Viscardi, making more classical guitars. At the end of 2000 he was offered a position in Tom Ribbecke’s workshop in Healdsburg, CA, where he stayed for a year making archtop, semi-hollow and steel string guitars, and working for local luthier’s supply company Luthier’s Mercantile, doing custom work. A full time position followed at Allied Lutherie, cutting precious Brazilian rosewood, grading wood and basically gaining a lot of hands-on experience on many different guitar-making materials.
In April 2002 he went back to Europe, this time to Spain, where he took a guitar making class in Cordoba with master guitarmaker Francisco Santiago Marin. He now resides in Granada, and continues to make fine concert classical guitars.

We are very happy at Kent Guitar Classics to be able to have two, or sometimes three, guitars from Daniele each year. We like very much his taste in design of the guitar shape and proportions as well as his decorative ideas and superb standard of workmanship. We have also worked together on little developments including his first guitar using premium quality ziricote for the back and sides, which along with a slightly modified plantilla, resulted in a guitar which was simply marvellous – both in terms of sound qualities and appearance; quite a stunningly beautiful guitar. Needless to say, more are planned.
"The close relationship Miles Roberts has with us, the makers, results in producing some quite special and unique instruments that we otherwise would not have made. Knowing more about music than the average maker, and understanding our trade better than most guitarists, Miles is the perfect bridge between the two. I am proud to have my instruments promoted and sold by Kent Guitar Classics. Lo stretto rapporto che Miles ha con noi liutai ci permette di realizzare strumenti speciali che probabilmente non faremmo altrimenti. Con una migliore conoscenza della musica che molti liutai e della liuteria che molti chitarristi, Miles è il perfetto mediatore tra i due. Sono molto contento che i miei strumenti siano offerti da Kent Guitar Classics."
