Tezanos Perez of Madrid

  • Year:

Made in 2003. Model Concierto - no. 566.

  • Body:

Rosewood - quite plain and sombre but many makers admire and prefer such quarter-sawn boards which are more rare these days. The sides are lined for stiffness

  • Front:

European spruce - very even, silky-grained and lemon shellac-polished. With a lovely geometric rosette in yellows, oranges and ochre colours. Rope-twist soundboard purflings

  • Tuners:

    Fustero tuners with engraved sideplates.

  • Scale:

    65cm

  • Neck Width:

    52mm at the nut

  • Condition:

Condition is as new with the exception of an area of shallow nail marks on the back of the neck - easily can be polished out.

  • Comments:

Marianos Tezanos and Gregorio Perez, both ex-Ramirez artisans, joined forces to make some very good instruments in typical Madrid style with similarities to those of Bernabe and Contreras for example. The Concierto model is a very respectable concert guitar with good dynamic range and balance. Soundwise, it has clarity, sparkle and projection - crisp ponticellos and very responsive to vibrato. In recent years Tezanos and Perez have separated and gone their own ways so this very nice model is no longer being made - even more pleasing therefore to find one in such super condition. Here then is a very good Madrid concert guitar in near new condition and priced well below those of many others from that city
