European spruce - probably Bavarian - a very characterful top similar in character that Hauser I used with varying grain width, distinct bearclaw figuring and with time a honey, ambered colour. The rosette is a lovely individual design of Rohan's with wide purfling and rosewood bridge.
Unsure of the make, black patterned side-plates, white translucent, perloid buttons and white rollers. Neck of cedrella.
652mm with 19 frets on an ebony fingerboard.
52mm at the nut with 43.5 mm string spacing.
1452 grams
The Brazilian back has grain-line cracks in book-matched position in the upper bout an two seemingly on one side. These have been cleated and the polish gone over by Rohan.
The front has numerous playing and handling marks; most of which only shows in reflection.
There are some marks and a scratch on the reverse of the head.
Rohan Lowe has made many very impressive guitars over the years and many of them played by professionals.
This one is a very fine instrument with an impressive, Hauser-like dynamic and tone range. Throughout, it is spontaneous, very crisp and focussed and no doubt has benefitted from having been played a lot. Consequently, it does have playing and handling marks.
So - if sound quality and playability is more important to you than a guitar being in pristine condition, this is a very fine guitar with which to make great music.Rohan Lowe - Click here to find out more about this maker
