Robert Ruck of Eugene in Oregon USA.

  • Year:

    1991 number 485

  • Body:

Indian Rosewood with very straight grain and attractive purflings.

  • Front:

European spruce - very fine-grained and with loads of silky medullary cross-grain - a really nice top. Very tasteful rosette and subtle, multi-lined purflings

  • Tuners:

Waverly-Sloane tuners with ebony buttons mounted on an ebony-faced head. The fingerboard is elevated over the upper body presenting greater ease of access to the upper treble notes above the 12th fret.

  • Scale:

    65cm

  • Neck Width:

    53 - 53.5mm at the nut

  • Condition:

In super, original condition. The back, sides, head, neck and fingerboard look virtually as new. The front has some little marks and minor playing wear but nothing that has broken the surface of the polish and at a glance looks quite fresh

  • Comments:

Guitars of Robert Ruck are renowned the world over and have been used in concerts and recordings by many world class players including Manuel Barrueco. This spruce Ruck is quite bright, crisp, clear and very responsive. The body air resonance is around G so the bass has a decent bottom end without being to full to overpower the treble. For a traditionally-built guitar i.e. without lattice, Nomex, double this or double that, this Ruck can be classed as a strong and loud guitar and the sound does not break up when you push it. So, here is a good concert guitar by a well-renowned maker in very nice, read-to-go condition and priced well below the majority advertised in the U.S.
