Paul Fischer in the Rubio Workshop

• Year:

  1975. Labelled, dated and signed by the maker. One of the first to have 'Made by Paul Fischer' on the label.

• Body:

  Beautiful Brazilian rosewood with current CITES A10 certificate. Attractive, straight-grained timber with characteristic colour variety. Maple and rosewood purfling throughout.
  Body length:- 493 mm.
  Top bout:- 280 mm wide & 92 mm deep.
  Waist:- 241 mm & 94 mm deep.
  Bottom bout:- 367 mm wide & 94 mm deep.
  All shellac french-polished.

• Front:

  European spruce of silky grain and even grain width with the famed vine-leaves rosette, slender rosewood bridge with bone-edged tie-block capping. Shellac french-polished.

• Tuners:

  Fustero lyre pattern with engraved black and gold side-plates and white faux pearl buttons mounted on the rosewood-faced head.

• Scale:

  65cm with 19 frets an an ebony fingerboard

• Neck Width:

  53.8mm at the nut with 45mm string spacing

• Weight:

  1595 grams

• Condition:

  This guitar is in original, very well cared-for condition.
  There is one natural, 8cm long grain-line crack in the Brazilian back on the bass-side upper bout. Tight closed, nothing to be seen inside and nothing required to be done. Nothing else to report.

• Comments:

  This guitar has a good feel and sound with a depth of voice from its air resonance of F# with a sweet, rounded treble that offers good sustain. They are quite large in the body and not as light in weight as some other makers. Using timbers that were David's and absolutely to his design pattern, including the 'nodal bar' in the strutting, these guitars can be just as good as David's own ... and to be expected when to his design and with the skill of an artisan craftsman like Paul Fischer.
  This is a very pleasing Rubio workshop guitar; deeper in voice than some and in lovely condition - which makes it a great opportunity.
