  • Comments:

Hernandez y Aguado guitars, made in the early to mid-1960's during the period when Regino Sainz de la Maza was known to have played them, are often thought of as being from a high point in the maker's careers. Before coming into our ownership, this one was owned since new by a proficient amateur musician.
The sound in these guitars is refined, definitely Spanish with a glassy, slightly austere character with qualities that are quite subtle and not immediately obvious to inexperienced players; not remarkably impressive at first but as you get to know them, they become more and more special - for example, the bass has remarkable sustain and focus - and when taken into a hall, the sound seems to expand into it. This one has been played over the years and has a good, open character about the sound and is also very comfortable to play.
