Kevin Aram - North Devon

  • Year:

    2004

  • Body:

Rosewood - of premium quality with really beautiful shades of colour and attractive grain figuring. The back has a very attractive and contrasting centre strip of yew and with yew bindings. The whole of the guitar has an oil-finish which has a more gloss feel to it than some others and a lovely warm feel.

  • Front:

European Spruce carrying a very elegant bridge, subtle purflings and fine-detailed rosette. All highly attractive and tasteful. 7 fan-strut construction with vaulted top bars.

  • Tuners:

Beautiful David Rodgers tuners with ebony buttons on a rosewood-faced head with yew centre strip to compliment the back fillet and bindings.

  • Scale:

    65cm

  • Neck Width:

    52mm at the nut

  • Weight:

    1505 grams

  • Condition:

The back, sides, neck and head of this instrument look immaculate, as new. A grainline crack, characteristic of this wood, in one of the sides top bout has been invisibly made good by the maker and a couple of additional cleats inside added as a preventative measure.
The front has an area of surface marking on the treble side of the strings which has been re-touched with the oil finish and is hardly noticeable. There is one string slip mark by the bridge.
As always, these descriptions make it sound worse than it is and as the photos show, you will find this to be a highly attractive looking guitar.

  • Comments:

Kevin Aram's guitars are well known and much admired. His choice of materials, quality of woodcraft and sound are widely-recognised as being of the highest standards. This one has an approximately F# body resonance giving depth and character to the bass. The whole of the instrument, having been played quite a lot, is very open and lively. It has really good balance and with a treble that has sparkle and excellent clarity. This is a very musical instrument, fully opened up and thoroughly enjoyable to play.
