European spruce - old timber sourced from Rolf Eichinger - with similar grain width as the original Torres. The wide rosette and luxurious purflings are reproduction of the original
Waverly 7023 with engraved sideplates and ebony buttons

John Ray has several times had the opportunity to see in close detail the Antonio de Torres guitar number SE153 of 1892 owned and played extensively by Carlos Trepat in Spain. He has since made several replicas which have been much admired.
His main objective is of course to make a guitar that is capable when mature, of producing a very similar sound to the original and in this he appears to have been very successful.
This guitar has a rounded, sweet sound that clearly aims at the Torres sound. With its smaller body, narrower neck and spontaneous release of sound, it is very comfortable and satisfying to play. Made in very limited quantity, you won't find many around.John Ray - Click here to find out more about this maker
