Jeronimo Peña Fernandez of Marmolejo, Jaen.

  • Year:

May 1982 - from a limited series of this special model

  • Body:

Beautiful rosewood - straight-grained with rich, warm colours of red and gold, accentuated by the coloured finish and with beautiful back centre-strip.
The back of the neck carries the maker's well known carving marquetry and the end of the fingerboard is also carved.

  • Front:

Canadian cedar - very even and tight-grained with the maker's fine-detailed rosette and carved bridge with tie-block decoration using the same motif as the rosette central tiles.

  • Tuners:

Fustero with lyre pattern, black sideplates and white pearl buttons. The headface is ebony with relief carving.

  • Scale:

664mm with 19 frets on the ebony fingerboard.

  • Neck Width:

53 mm at the nut - but with 43mm string spacing as you would find on many 52mm wide nuts.

  • Weight:

    1805 grams

  • Condition:

    In very near mint condition.
Apart from the little mark as can be seen in the 'front' photo and a five or six other very small marks, the condition is close to 'as new'.

  • Comments:

This is one of Jeronimo Peña Fernandez's luxurious models with all his feature carving and finest materials.
Certainly not for the faint-hearted, this is a big boy's box with a size of body, size and weight of neck suiting a player of strength.
In reality the guitar, as can be judged from its beautiful condition, has barely been played and will probably benefit from regularly being used.
A handsome and individual Spanish instrument from a renowned maker that would fit into many guitar collections.
