The condition is very good. Apart from a short glued crack to the front of the bridge, there are no other repairs or cracks. The original nitro varnish is in evidence throughout though there is possibly some very light shellac addition on the front. The bridge saddle, nut and machine tuner rollers are the same 'orangey' colour characteristic of the maker at the time. There is the usual crazing / crackling lines visible in the front, which being more resistant than shellac, has probably helped preserve the condition. As is common with these instruments, the centre of the front has dipped.
A little larger and heavier than the late 1950's Hauser II's, this is another lovely instrument to play. With an air resonance around F#, this instrument has such clarity, warmth, refinement and a lovely balance combined with rounded, natural and traditional tone colours that grace any repertoire.
Increasingly hard to find these days, these instruments are both lovely and investment potential.Hermann Hauser II - Click here to find out more about this maker
