1983. Label signed and dated. Stamped on the inside back and on the heel slipper.

  • Body:

Spanish cypress with good, straight grain on the back and on the majority of the depth of the sides. There is an odd feature in the grain on the top back; left side of the centre, which is naturally in the timber and under the polish.
    Body length:- 488mm
Top bout:- 287 mm wide & 95 mm deep.
Waist:- 243 mm wide & 97 mm deep.
Bottom bout:- 363 mm wide & 100 mm deep.
    All shellac french-polished.

  • Front:

European spruce - quite close-grained and has one of the well-recognised rosette patterns and clear golpeador. Rosewood bridge with bone-framed tie-block capping..

  • Tuners:

Unknown make with patterned side-plates with lyre ends, white rollers and ivoroid buttons.

  • Scale:

667mm. 19 frets on an ebony fingerboard

  • Neck Width:

52 mm at the nut and 43.5 mm string spacing

  • Weight:

    1342 grams

  • Condition:

The condition is really very good, with no cracks or repairs, original polishing and minimal playing and handling marks. The fingerboard and frets show very little wear. There are some areas of superficial dulling and body heat effect in the polish; much of which would be rubbed out with a bit of burnishing cream.
So overall it is in particularly good, original condition.

  • Comments:

Here is a typically good Gerundino from a period that so many people consider to be when many of the finest Gerundino's were produced. This has been in the ownership of an amateur player and may well have been played relatively very little; particularly in recent years.
It has a rasping, very flamenco sound character and very low, easy action.
