• Year:

  1969. Label stamped and dated. There are five stamps inside on the tail block, under the front and on the heel slipper as well as some 'GF' 's on the bars.

• Body:

  Spanish cypress - with straight-grained back and attractive quarter-sawn sides all with simplistic decoration in terms of purflings and bindings.
  Body length:- 488 mm.
  Top bout:- 278 mm wide & 93 mm deep.
  Waist:- 240 mm & 95 mm deep.
  Bottom bout:- 367 mm wide & 96 mm deep.
  All shellac french-polished.

• Front:

  Canadian cedar - a tight-grained and even-grained front. Rosewood bridge with bone framing to the tie-block. With clear golpeador that has replaced the original.

• Tuners:

  Traditional rosewood peg-head carrying the 'GF' stamp at the head-joint.

• Scale:

  656mm with 19 frets on an ebony fingerboard.

• Neck Width:

  54mm with 45mm string spacing

• Weight:

  1256 grams

• Condition:

  This guitar has been played a lot, though not so much recently. The overall condition is really good - the original golpeador was replaced and some superficial polish touch-up done some years ago to lessen the visual effect of some scratches and nail marks. There are normal flamenco thumb contact marks around the lower part of the rosette.
  The back and sides are in very good, original condition. There are cejilla band marks and some scratches to the back of the neck.

• Comments:

  This flamenco guitar is a bit of an animal. It has a big, powerful sound with strong, penetrating treble voice. From the cedar front, the sound is dark, serious and earthy. From a period when so many people consider to be when many of the finest Gerundino's were produced, this is a superb example that can produce those strong, aggressive yet plaintive sounds for which these guitars are known. Previous owners include Juan Martin and allegedly, Paco Pena.
  Still with plenty of bark and bite, this is a fine, characteristic Gerundino.
