A stunningly beautiful instrument from one of the early 20th century truly great makers. More restained, some would say more elegant than some of those that are highly decorated all over and with the carved head-faces. In very good and highly attractive condition, the guitar has had mild restoration i.e. attention to some cracks and re-polishing by Christopher Dean.
This particular guitar was selected by Agustin Barrios from Casa Trápani in Montivideo for his friend Eduardo Fabini, the Uruguayan composer. It is reasonable to assume therefore that Agustin Barrios will have played this guitar. Delightful to play; it is very comfortable perhaps because of the superb neck shape. The bass is rich and deep yet at the same time the treble is solid and strong; much stronger than the majority seen here, making it a perfectly good playing and performance instrument with a gorgeous range of deep old-world sounds. A superb example in fine playing condition with some interesting history. Fabulous!
