MCMLXX = 1970. Labelled, signed David J Rubio and stamped on the label, on the heel slipper and under the front. This is no sure indication to be made by David - but likely substantially made by Paul Fischer in collaboration with David. At this early stage, Paul and David were alone on guitars - Paul had been there only since 1969.

This is a one-owner guitar who bought it from the Duns Tew workshop - in really very good, well-cared-for condition, particularly noting it is a 46-year old instrument. It is in original condition; without body repairs or cracks, original finish, and modest playing and handling marks.
The head-to-neck joint was strained and partially opened 30 or more years ago when it was glued and has remained perfectly strong since then. A glue line is visible.
A rattling back bar was also re-glued very recently.
It is in extremely tidy condition for a guitar of this vintage.
Including original Paxman case in good condition.
This good-looking guitar has a good feel and sound with a depth of voice from its air resonance of F# with a rounded treble that offers good sustain. Using timbers that were David's and absolutely to his design pattern, including the 'nodal bar' in the treble-side fan-struts, this guitar was made during the early period when Paul Fischer had recently joined David and its construction may have involved both.
This is a fine performance instrument; deeper in voice than some and in lovely condition - which makes it a special opportunity.David Rubio - Click here to find out more about this maker
