• Body:

  Black chacate (guibourtia conjugata), an African, non-dalbergia hardwood is used for the back & sides that are lined internally with maple. The purfling pattern is harmonised with the rosette rings and bridge tie-block decoration.
  Body length:- 483mm.
  Top bout:- 278 mm wide & 97 mm deep.
  Waist:- 238 mm & 101 mm deep.
  Bottom bout:- 363 mm wide & 102 mm deep.
  All shellac french-polished.

• Front:

  This is a cedar-Nomex-cedar double-top instrument with spruce-only (no carbon fibre) carved lattice bracing.
  The bridge is ebony with 12-hole string tie option.
  The double top design with Nomex follows the designs of Gernot Wagner & Matthias Dammann. The light lattice bracing is also aimed at volume and speed of sound release whilst trying to retain as much traditional sound as possible.

• Tuners:

  Robson tuning machines with plain brass Hauser-shaped side-plates, white rollers with end bearings and kidney-shaped, ebony buttons

• Scale:

  65cm on an ebony fingerboard with 19 frets (plus 20th for the 1st & 2nd string).

• Neck Width:

  52 mm at the nut with 42.5 mm string spacing.

• Weight:

  1815 grams

• Condition:

  New. All shellac french-polished.

• Comments:

  The David Pelter double-top guitars are designed for the performer needing that extra power and projection. Quoting David - "To generate more volume and enhance the dynamic range with deeper bass and more colourful trebles, I offer this double top sandwich construction. Such a soundboard is constructed from a 2.3 mm thick spruce or cedar top, routed out to receive a 1.6 mm Nomex interlayer. The inner face is then encapsulated with a further thin (0.6 mm) layer of spruce or cedar. I generally brace such tops using a scalloped lattice. Further benefits from double tops are enhanced projection and sustain with excellent balance and note separation."
  Having a near F# air resonance, this example has a bass warmth and bright, projecting treble. Whilst achieving much of the design objectives of the many Australian and German double-top and lattice guitars, these David Pelter instruments are at a fraction of those in price, (and much more pleasing than many) hence very good and affordable value-for-money.
