David Argent - Black Forest, South Australia

  • Year:

    2009 - September

  • Body:

Santos rosewood with very attractive colours and figuring - in an arched, braceless back construction. Fine line purflings and bindings of jarrah(?) which has a speckled figuring like lacewood.
These guitars are finished in a lacquer, cut back then buffed to a high gloss shine.
The arm-rest was made and fitted by Jim Redgate.

  • Front:

Canadian cedar with carbon-fibre re-inforced, lattice construction. Arm-rest and rosewood bridge.

  • Tuners:

Graf with weave pattern, engraved sideplates and ebony buttons

  • Scale:

65cm with 20 frets on an ebony fingerboard

  • Neck Width:

    52mm at the nut

  • Weight:

    2387 grams

  • Condition:

    New, completely unmarked.
On very close inspection - and with the light shining only from a particular direction, we find some very faint masking tape imprint marks around the bridge - just in the surface.

  • Comments:

The guitars of David Argent are known for a sweet tone, powerful volume and good sustain. Like many Australian guitars, they are heavy (though not as heavy as Smallman) and with very rigid back and sides compared with more traditionally-built, fan-strutted instruments. Some people find the weight aids the guitar resting in their lap in a stable and secure way.
The sound of this Argent guitar is typical of the make with strength, quick release of sound and with good left-hand comfort.
