In exceptionally beautiful condition without repairs or cracks. There are some left hand thumb-nail marks to the back of the head and one little area of polish wear in the region where the right arm passes over the body and one string slip.
Has the front polish been touched up or re-done? ..... possibly / probably. There are a few marks near the edge of the treble top bout which appear to be under the polish surface; similarly on the back of the neck. The front polish also has some barely visible micro-crazing which makes me think the polish has been worked on.
Having said that, the back and sides are undoubtedly original because of the characteristic misting in most older Friederich guitar polish - and they are in near mark-free condition. The condition of the back & sides, fingerboard, tuners and lack of any residual marks on the front suggests this guitar has been immaculately cared-for, whether front polish worked on or not.
The first of two guitars made for Turibio Santos, this is another really superb Daniel Friederich spruce guitar from the early 70's - so strong and full of richness of tone with great clarity and sustain; also in exceptionally good condition. Shortly after this period, the guitars were mainly with cedar fronts.
Daniel Friederich has fully retired now and has sold many of his tools and timbers, so there will be no more to come.
This guitar is a performer's or collector's dream; it has everything, the appearance, the sound and originally in a famed maker's hands.Daniel Friederich - Click here to find out more about this maker
