Fustero having lyre ends, engraved black and brass sideplates, shaped edges and transparent, perloid buttons.
65cm with 19 frets on an ebony fingerboard
51mm at the nut with 43 mm string spacing.
1577 grams
All original condition with no repairs, no cracks and no re-polishing - with the possible exception of a polish touch-in just on the treble side of the playing area - so well blended in, that if so, it is likely done by Daniel Friederich. This is a guitar that has been lovingly cared for yet played quite a lot but has only modest playing wear. The polish has worn a bit thin in some small areas but there are no bad marks or scars; only what could be expected with a guitar that was loved and regularly played.
This instrument has been in the same Parisien family since originally bought from Daniel Friederich in 1969 and has been regularly played until a few years ago.
Made in a period before Daniel Friederich produced heavier guitars with doubled sides and with generally a heavier sound, this is characteristic of this limited and sought-after period. Whilst not having a particularly low air resonance (around F# - G), the bass notes are very profound and sonorous - the bottom octave of the note is very steady and this seems to give a solid, focussed and sustaining sound. The treble is rounded, sweet and lyrical - a very fine guitar.
Good condition Daniel Friederich guitars are hard to come by these days and are very much in increasing demand. This is a fine example.Daniel Friederich - Click here to find out more about this maker
