East Indian rosewood - rich in colour, straight-grained and with attractive centre-strip and purflings. The back, sides and neck have a light lacquer finish which is more resistant to marking than french polish.

  • Front:

European spruce - a really good silky top with lots of medullary rays carrying a fine-detailed rosette, rosewood bridge with attractive framing and centre decoration to the tie-block. The front is shellac french-polished.

  • Tuners:

Waverly-Sloane with white rollers and snakewood buttons, mounted on a rosewood-faced head.

  • Scale:

65cm with 19 frets on an ebony fingerboard

  • Neck Width:

52mm at the nut with 43 mm string spacing.

  • Weight:

    1543 grams

  • Condition:

With a finely-applied lacquer finish, the back, sides and neck are well-protected and have just some tiny marks, nevertheless looking near-new.
The front has refreshed shellac french-polish, done to remove superficial nail marks. The remnants of one string slip and evidence of about ten nail marks in one area remain visible.

  • Comments:

Christopher Dean guitars have been consistently popular over the years because of their consistently appealing musicality and richness yet clarity of tone. This example has a clear, singing treble and a bass which is nicely crisp and focussed. The balance is really good and I also find it very responsive to right hand tone change.
Equally enjoyable for player and listener; amateur or professional, these are super instruments in both looks, tone quality, playability and concert strength.
So this is an opportunity for an impressive Christopher Dean without having to wait his lengthening order period.

"Having known Miles for many years now I can say with some authority that dealing with him is a pleasure, due largely to my secure feeling that he, like me, has a genuine love of his subject. Over the years I have always been eager to hear feedback from both Miles, and his customers, and this has helped me greatly to bolster my own passion for the guitar and to refine my work ."
