1989 - number 98. Labelled, numbered, dated and signed by the maker.
Brazilian rosewood - with recently-granted, CITES certificate. The timber is very attractive with reddish-brown hues and dark stipes; particularly in the sides, with double-line purfling and rosewood bindings.
Body length:- 487mm.
Top bout:- 278 mm wide & 97 mm deep.
Waist:- 240 mm & 99 mm deep.
Bottom bout:- 367 mm wide & 98 mm deep.
European spruce - of lovely silky quality, well quarter-sawn and with an aged, ambered colour, carrying the maker's hand-made rosette and rosewood bridge with bone-framed tie-block capping.
The top has 9 fan-struts with a second, diagonal harmonic bar - like some Ramirez and some Fleta guitars, with a bridge plate and closing bars.
Irving Sloane tuning machines with patterned brass side-plates, white rollers and perloid buttons.
65cm with 19 frets on an ebony fingerboard - and 20th fret for the 1st string.
52mm at the nut with 43.5 mm string spacing.
1724 grams
The guitar is in good condition. The Brazilian rosewood back has one repaired, natural grain-line crack.
The front has some handling marks either side of the fingerboard and there are string slip marks below the 1st & 2nd string tie points; otherwise in tidy state.
Although an earlier guitar from Christopher, it shows the refinement of build and sound that his later instruments would be known for. The air resonance is just above G and has a warm, velvety sound combined with a clear, bright treble that sustains well.

"Having known Miles for many years now I can say with some authority that dealing with him is a pleasure, due largely to my secure feeling that he, like me, has a genuine love of his subject. Over the years I have always been eager to hear feedback from both Miles, and his customers, and this has helped me greatly to bolster my own passion for the guitar and to refine my work ."
