2006 - number 707B
Just the most gorgeous wood - south american swartzia, rosewood or machaerium- (looking a bit similar to a Miguel Rodriguez 'Churchdoor')
Canadian Cedar - using some of his oldest cedar, rosewood bridge.
Gotoh with ivoroid buttons.
65cm with 19 frets.
52mm at the nut. Ebony fingerboard.
This beautiful guitar has been played. The polish on the front has been skimmed over (not re-finished) to remove shallow little surface marks and now again looks close to new.
There are still some little marks to the back of the neck and head - these could readily be polished out if they bother a new owner.
I remember this guitar when collected in 2006 from Antonio's workshop and at the time brought a very broad smile because of its immediately open and impressive quality - as well as its physical beauty. It is very open, rich and particularly clear guitar with impressive sustain. These cedar Marins have the warmth and power associated with cedar but not the lack of clarity and shorter notes that some cedar guitars can have. This particular guitar is a real beauty; one of the best we ever had with such freedom of sound, rich bass, singing treble and stacks of power.
