We are extremely saddened to hear that Munich guitar-maker Fritz Ober passed away after a period of illness. He was not just one of the finest luthiers of our generation but also a warm-hearted, reliable friend. I feel honoured to have visited him many times to collect his wonderful instruments and to have enjoyed his company over many a lunch or evening meal. The world needs more people like Fritz … a friendly, generous and caring human being.

Love, poetry, art, are the things with which men give meaning to life. Fritz Ober with his 2011 Leona changed my way of playing and paved the way for a new research. I think in heaven they will still let him build his. guitars

So very sad to hear of Mr. Ober’s passing. I still own and enjoy the 2018 Fritz Ober spruce/maple that Miles so very carefully packed and shipped to me in Tennessee, USA. A wonderful guitar with a pure and old soul. No doubt an embodiment of the gifted luthier who crafted it. RIP Herr Ober.

This is heartbreaking.
I thought his guitars were off the charts, great.
He looks so sweet in this photo.

As you know, he was a tall, masculine man but with a smile and a warmth of personality that was very endearing. I am very upset about his passing and that there was no chance to say Thank you and Goodbye.
