Just collected from Fritz Ober in Munich, a superb new Hauser-style guitar with very low body resonance; down to near E – the lowest he has produced so far without a tornovoz. This instrument is very deep in sound yet the maker has maintained a very strong, in-balance treble. When playing this guitar, it is a real reminder of what many guitars of the 1930′s, 40′s & 50′s sounded like – rich, sweet and very lyrical. It is interesting to note how well the deep sounds of a guitar like this carry in a large space. Quite a remarkable instrument that already has shocked one or two professional players.  Now sold 22/4/09. Please enquire for the next available.  See the Home page listing under the ‘Up to Euros 10,000′ section for full details.

I can affirm, that this new guitar Fritz showed me in his Munich workshop is a start in a very exciting synthesis of Hauser I and Torres elements, very strong serious character, very “classical” and well balanced. I am performing on his instruments for many years…my best choice if not playing Torres’ 1856 La Leona, which Fritz has reproduced in a perfect replica last year. Top class!

It is good now that Miles included Ober guitars in his fine guitar collection at Kent. Miles’ excellent service and Ober quality are suitable match.

I own Ober too. Very fine guitar and playbility. The materials are exquisite.

…this is indeed a very impressive instrument – I was lucky enough to play it at Fritz’s workshop and again at Kent Guitar Classics. I’m not a professional but I was shocked, too…with Miles’s helpful guidance I’ve come across quite a range of world class instruments – the choice at Kent Guitar Classics is just amazing(!), but the Ober really stands out – there is nothing more to add about the magnificent sound, your description, Miles, is very accurate (as always!), the only thing you haven’t mentioned is the superb playability!
