Rik Middleton of Coventry

  • Year:

    2010 - new.

  • Body:

Attractive rosewood - dark and mysterious with fairly uniform colour and some localised contrasts. Framed very effectively with flamed jarrah bindings and single-line boxwood purfling.

  • Front:

European spruce with loads of medullary rays showing it to be very well quarter-sawn. Attractive geometric rosette, double purflings and matching bridge tie-block decoration. The colour contrast of the two halves of the front is much-exaggerated by the digital camera and lighting angle.

  • Tuners:

Gotoh with patterned sideplates, Rodgers-style posts and synthetic ivory buttons.

  • Scale:

    65.3cm. With 20th fret.

  • Neck Width:

    52.5mm at the nut.

  • Weight:

    1410 grams

  • Condition:

New. All finished in finely-applied lacquer polish

  • Comments:

Rik Middleton's instruments are very finely crafted and with much thought in the process. The curves and cambers of the fingerboard and frets for example are very precisely done, aiming for ultimate playability. The sound is very classical with good balance, a rounded, sustaining middle and treble and a depth of bass that originates from the G body resonance. These are beautifully-crafted guitars representing very good value-for-money.
