Juan Hernandez - made in Valencia

  • Year:

    New - cedar Estudio model

  • Body:

The body is made from the west African tonewood Ovangkol (botanical name - Guibourtia Ehie) in solid, single thickness. Its density is similar to Indian rosewood and this example has really beautiful figuring; particularly on the back - similar to fiddle-back maple, with the characteristic yellow brown colour and grey black stripes. (The maker actually refers to both 'Mongoy' in Spanish conversation and 'Ovangkol' in translation - although these are two distinct species)

  • Front:

    Canadian cedar

  • Tuners:

Schaller or Schaller look-alikes with white buttons

  • Scale:

    65cm. Ebony fingerboard

  • Neck Width:

    52mm at the nut

  • Condition:

    New. Lacquer-finished.

  • Comments:

These are very pleasing guitars altogether - in appearance, feel and sound. The bass has good depth, the treble is quite even , has clarity and the physical set-up offers comfortable playing. As with the all of the Juan Hernandez range, they are well-made and are clean and tidy inside as well as outside. At less than £800, these are really good value for money and compare very well with others makes at similar price.
