Vihuela made in 1961 - number 3
Rosewood with attractive figuring and colours.
European spruce with amber colouring through from both colour in the polish and with aging.
Wooden pegs - rosewood presumably and all in working order.
Vibrating string length of 65cm
56mm
The appearance of this instrument is very attractive and particularly for a 48 year-old instrument. The back has two tight, glued cracks and the front has one either side of the neck joint and two below the bridge. All of these have been well stabilised.
This vihuela, originally understood to be one of only three (but since contacted by someone with No. 6!) by the legendary Ignacio Fleta, is obviously extremely rare. The current owner is very enthusiastic about this vihuela's sound qualities and volume compared with others at time of purchase and since. The quality of the rose and other decorations on the front of the vihuela is very attractive. As well as being of interest to a player of vihuela music this may also interest the collector of Fleta's instruments.
