Dominique Delarue of St.Chamas, Provence

  • Year:

    2010 - number 337

  • Body:

East Indian rosewood with straight-grained sides and a back with attractive broader grain bands and lighter colour. The bottom sides and centre back have a padauk decorative strip.

  • Front:

European spruce - a lovely silky top with a very elegant rosette and slim, bone-framed, rosewood bridge with decorative motif from the rosette centre tiles.

  • Tuners:

Waverly Sloane tuning machines with brass sideplates and snakewood buttons.

  • Scale:

65cm with 19 frets on an ebony fingerboard

  • Neck Width:

52mm at the nut with 42 mm string spacing.

  • Weight:

    1618 grams

  • Condition:

There are some very small handling marks and very minor playing marks on the front - all of which is in the polish only - and none of which is seen except when light is reflected from it. The back has an area of button impressions where the back rests against the body; again just in the polish surface.
Although having to be mentioned, these observations do not detract from a really handsome instrument in very attractive condition and appearance.

  • Comments:

Dominique Delarue's concert guitars are very much admired and sought-after in recent years around the world. They are strong concert guitars with richness of tone combined with clarity, focus and sparkle. This 2010 spruce guitar is of typically high quality and is constructed in the same way as the current ones. His spruce guitars appear to have the same strength and power of the cedar but with perhaps a more rounded treble.
The choice of many professionals, this is a serious performance instrument.
