1971 - labelled, dated and signed by the maker.

Spanish cypress -a book-matched back with rope effect centre-strip, straight-grained sides and slim rosewood bindings.

    Waist:- 227 mm
Bottom bout:- 362 mm wide & 88 mm deep.
    Body length:- 475 mm.
    Overall length:- 970 mm.

  • Front:

European spruce of fine quality with a lot of medullary over the whole soundboard and very even grainline spacing. A dramatic rosette design with floral centre tiles and dark outer rings. Rosewood bridge with bone-framed tie-block.

Traditional rosewood peg-head - with faux diamonte ends to the pegs.

  • Neck Width:

50 mm at the nut with 41.5mm string spacing - helpful for smaller hands

  • Weight:

    1155 grams

  • Condition:

Overall in very good, original condition.
The very bottom of the ribs has been bumped, showing a short depression and short parallel crack lines ... it's harmless and insignificant.
There is partial surface separation of the centre-seam joint, below the bridge ... it's very minor and doesn't really need attention.
Other than that this is only very minor playing or handling marks.

  • Comments:

Here is an early instrument from the great Granada maker - Antonio Marin Montero. The fact it has a 65.5cm scale yet a shorter body with only 18 frets suggests it was a special request build for somebody. From notes left in the guitar case, it was apparently bought from Juan Martin in London in May 1972 by the man who owned it until his passing a few years ago.
The guitar is very light and has a surprising profound, deep, slightly dark, lively, flamenco sound ... a little cannon .... small in body but not small in voice.
