Here again, José Marin Plazuelo and José Gonzalez Lopez check over some back and side sets of maple and cypress (behind the piles of spruce tops). Each has their preferences in terms of the type of figuring to be seen in the raw wood but of course they, as with any other maker, will reject boards with defects or grain character that gives them serious concerns over likelihood of cracking during the bending of the sides.
