Fritz Ober with his 'Leonesa' 2008
This is the terrific 2008 Fritz Ober reproduction of the Torres guitar 'La Leona'. Like the original, it has cypress back and sides and a brass tornovoz in the soundhole. Both original and copy are very light and have a deep voice from a body air resonance down at D. Surprisingly, both have a strong and free treble. Wulfin Lieske plays and has recorded a CD using the original Torres guitar and has also given recitals with the Ober replica with great success. Fritz will make just a few of these guitars; four perhaps - and we are very happy knowing that we shall have one of those few to offer in the next year or so.
