If you get chance to go to the town of Caceres in Extremadura in western Spain, then go. It is a magnificent place with the old part of the town dominated by an extensive, fortified citadel full of interesting buildings, good quality restaurants, a couple of hotels, wonderful churches; it is a gem and a photographer's paradise. To get there from Madrid was a three hour train ride through arid countryside, tumbleweed villages and railway stations suddenly to come upon this verdant and modern town of Caceres. This is the home town of Antonio Conde; an experienced flamenco who initially taught his son Javier to play. Today Javier has moved on from being an exceptional young boy flamenco genius that has played with most of the legendary flamencos in Spain at one time or another, to a regular concert performer.
